Mark & Sue
Mark and Sue moved to The Wintles in the summer of 2005. They have a three-year-old son, and their unborn daughter is due in May 2006.

‘I’d always wanted to live in Shropshire,’ says Mark. ‘It has everything the Lake District has, minus the tourists.’

They moved into the magnificent Tower House, the largest house on The Wintles.

‘We’re just beginning to get the house how we like it,’ says Mark. ‘We’ve just moved the bed in the top room into the centre of the room, so you can see the hills and sheep through the window. We absolutely love the house. And I can’t wait to get stuck into the garden.’

Mark used to own a music store in Manchester, but says, ‘I was sick of everything the city had to offer. I’d partied for forty years and I’d had enough!’ Now he works three days a week at a local supermarket, and plans to look for gardening work.

Mark is also enthusiastic about Bishop’s Castle. ‘It has a decent amount of pubs and it’s not too far from Manchester. We have a constant stream of visitors because it’s a vibrant town with gorgeous countryside, and we have a lovely big house.’

Their little boy loves it too. ‘We’ve made mates in Bishop’s Castle now. Tom goes to a nursery you can walk to. The women who run it are great. Tom is dead happy. When we visit Manchester he always says, ‘I want to go back to my new house now.’
