Mark Shorrock is the founder of the AIM listed Low Carbon Accelerator fund. He is CEO of Low Carbon Investors, the investment manager to Low Carbon Accelerator.
Low Carbon Accelerator is a closed-ended investment company listed on the Alternative Investment Market of the London Stock Exchange (AIM) which was launched in October 2006, raising gross proceeds of £44.5 million. Low Carbon Accelerator invests in a diverse portfolio of unquoted private companies providing low carbon products and services which deliver immediate reductions in carbon dioxide emissions.
Low Carbon Accelerator’s investment focus is on buildings and building products; clean transport; clean energy generation and energy efficiency.
The work to create Low Carbon Accelerator began in 2003. Mark worked with a group of industry advisers to identify business solutions to climate change. The focus was to map the future Low Carbon Economy and seek out fast growing businesses capable of reducing CO2 emissions immediately. Mark then created Low Carbon Investors as an investment manager vehicle to bring together a group of core individuals all with experience of running or growing low carbon businesses and to bring together a wider group of advisors with industry reach across relevant low carbon sectors.
Mark was formerly founder and CEO of Wind Energy Ltd, the UK’s largest independent developer of wind farms with over 650MW of onshore wind power in planning in Scotland which has recently sold a majority stake to the US multinational AES, creating a substantial return on investment for its founder shareholders.
Mark's early career was in the film industry where he produced a number of films and set up a number of drama and film productions.
